Archives Respect life grants given to groups across diocese

Bishop Terry R. LaValley has approved the grants from this year’s Respect Life second collection.
The Respect Life Collection Grant Board met April 30 to review the 25 applications and then submitted their recommendations to the bishop for his review and approval.

The committee members are Father Kris Lauzon, Deacon Gary and Gayle Frank, Angelo and Suzanne Pietropaoli and John and Colleen Miner.

The recipients of this year’s grants follow: five Gabriel Projects (Gouverneur, Potsdam, Brasher Falls, Massena and Plattsburgh), Malone Catholic Charities counseling services, three Youth Buses for Life, two March for Life family buses (Lewis County and Clinton County), Birthright in Plattsburgh, Lewis County and Champlain Valley Right To Life Fair Booths, Liferight of Watertown, Alexandria Bay Thrift Shop Building Project, Plattsburgh Newman Center Project 4 Life, Dr. John Middleton’s pro-life media campaign, 40 Days for Life, Natural Family Planning and Pre-Cana materials, USCCB Respect Life Month pastor packets and a Theology of the Body workshop.

This year’s total was $68,367, slightly down from 2011, a $2,805 difference.
