Archives Fr. Carrara is named vicar for pastoral personnel

May 24, 2017

Bishop LaValley has announced that Father James W. Seymour will step away from his position of Episcopal Vicar for Pastoral Personnel this Fall.  Father Seymour has held this position for the past 12 years.

“I am most grateful to Father Seymour for his competent and loving service as Episcopal Vicar for Pastoral Personnel,” said Bishop LaValley.   “Father Jay wants to return to full time parish ministry, which is understandable since he is a pastor at heart.”

The bishop announced that Father Christopher C. Carrara, pastor in Lowville will become Episcopal Vicar for Pastoral Personnel this Fall.

In making the announcement Bishop LaValley said,  “Father Carrara is an experienced and wise pastor who has the skills to handle the important and diverse responsibilities of this position.  I am grateful for his willingness to accept this challenging ministry.”

The change will not become effective until later this Fall, after a transition period that will enable Father Carrara to work with Father Seymour to learn the position.

“Father Seymour and Father Carrara will work together in the coming months to give Father Carrara the opportunity to learn the position and benefit from the wisdom and experience of Father Jay, “ said Bishop LaValley.

“This position entails a variety of duties and responsibilities and there is much to learn,” he said

“No matter what assignment Father Jay Seymour holds, he will always be an effective, loving pastor of souls and a strong, positive influence in our diocese,” said Bishop LaValley.

“I know he will prepare Father Carrara well for this position so that he can continue the top notch leadership and service we received from Father Jay,” he said.
