Archives Dcn. Jablonski to be ordained a priest Saturday

Ogdensburg - Bishop Terry R. LaValley will preside at the priesthood ordination of Deacon Michael J. Jablonski Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral.

A native of St. Johnsville, N.Y. in Montgomery County, Deacon Jablonski was born Feb. 26, 1981, the son of Joseph and Rachel Jablonski. He grew up on the family dairy farm.

He graduated from high school in 1999 from Oppenheim-Ephrataha Central School and earned an associate’s degree in social sciences from Herkimer County Community College, a bachelor’s degree in history from Utica College of Syracuse University and a master’s degree in education from the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio before beginning studies for the priesthood.

He graduated this month from the Pontifical College Josephinum with a master’s of divinity degree.

Bishop LaValley ordained Deacon Jablonski to the diaconate May 28, 2016 at St. John’s Church in Plattsburgh. He has served as a deacon at St. Joseph's Cathedral in Columbus, Ohio, from August, 2016 to April of this year.

His first assignment as a priest will be as parochial vicar of the Church of the Sacred Heart and St. Lawrence and to St. Mary’s and St. Joseph’s in Massena, effective June 21.
