Aug. 30, 2017 Omaha, Neb. - Three of the 2017 jubilarians of the Servants of Mary this year have given many years of service to Catholics in the Diocese of Ogdensburg. Servite Sisters Rita Mary Morrisette, Louise Genest and Lucille Beaulieu were honored for 70 years of religious life at a July 8 celebration at the motherhouse. Each started as a teacher in 1947, Sister Lucille in Sioux City, Iowa; and Sister Rita Mary and Sister Louise ,in Detroit. The local ministries offered by the sisters follow: Sister Lucille: teacher/tutor/substitute teacher at Sacred Heart Church in Massena, 1973-77; pastoral minister and director of religious education at Sacred Heart Church in Massena, 1977-83; pastoral associate, St. Peter’s Parish, Lowville; 1998-2010; ministry to the homebound, St. Augustine’s Church, North Bangor, 2010-14. Sister Louise: teacher and principal at Sacred Heart School in Massena, 1971-1981 before moving to Rome to serve as general secretary for the Servants of Mary, 1981-83; teacher at Trinity Catholic School in Massena, 1983-93, permanent substitute teacher at Trinity, 1993-94, part-time French teacher at Trinity, 1994-2011 before retiring at Sacred Heart convent in Massena, 2011-2012. Sister Rita Mary: parish ministry at St. Bernard’s in Saranac Lake, 1993-2006; and volunteer ministry at Sacred Heart Parish in Massena, 2006-13. |
