Father Scott D. Fobare Year for Priests Page

Ordination: May 23, 1987
Current assignment - pastor St.Patrick’s,Port Henry;
All Saints, Mineville

1.) What's your favorite prayer?
Prayer of St. Francis

2.) Favorite saint?
Francis

3.) A holy moment in your priesthood
My ordination to Priesthood. It was the
beginning to a blessed life.

4.) Something you've learned from your brother priests (or a particular priest)
A wise priest once told me when I was a
young priest that a priest should never
have to leave the rectory for support. I
have learned this to be true from being a
part of the priests of the Diocese of
Ogdensburg

5.) Favorite part of being a priest
Celebrating Mass and preaching

6.) Advice for someone considering a vocation
It’s a call to be lived out in and through
prayer. Henri Nouwen spoke to us seminarians
at St.. John’s in Boston when I was
in formation. He said – pointing to us
future priests of the church – that unless
we are willing to spend one hour a day
with the Lord we will never survive as a
priest. I have learned over and over again
how important that is. To those studying
to be priests - spend time with the Lord
EVERY day and you will be complete.

7.) Something about you few people would know
I never went to church as a young child –
was never an altar server – didn’t even
know what a priest did (outside of Mass on
Sunday).

8.) Favorite temporal things
Photography and Traveling

9.)Favorite food
Italian
