Archives Funeral Mass for Sr. Anne Boyer is Aug. 30

Sister Anne Boyer, a Gray Nun of the Sacred Heart, formerly Sister Mary Mark, 95, died August 18, 2025, in the 75th year of her religious life.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, in the Redeemer Sisters’ Chapel 521 Moredon Road, Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania. Visitation will precede the Mass, starting at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel. The sharing of memories will be at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem, Pennsylvania.

Born in Ogdensburg, she was the daughter of Felix J and Antoinette (Valley) Boyer.

She graduated from Holy Cross Elementary School and St. Mary’s Academy and attended D’Youville College earning a bachelor’s degree in English/Social Studies and a master’s degree in European History from Villanova University.

Sister entered the GNSH in 1950.

Teacher, college administrator, pastoral associate and hospital chaplain are among the ministries that engaged Sister Anne during the more than 75 years of her religious life. Seventeen of these years were in the North Country, where she taught at St. Mary’s Academy and was Patient Advocate/Pastoral Care Director at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center. She also spent a year in Canton as pastoral associate and parish visitor coordinator at St. Mary’s and a year as pastoral associate in All Saints Parish in Chaumont.

For 34 years she served in the Buffalo area including 11 years at D’Youville College as assistant dean, School of Arts and Science, and later as financial aid counselor. Other assignments took her to Niagara Falls, Batavia and Tonawanda, New York, Atlanta, Georgia and Strafford, Pennsylvania.

In 2011, Sister Anne retired from active ministry, returning to the Grey Nuns Motherhouse. There she continued to serve through ministries of prayer and volunteering within the congregation. Moving to Holy Redeemer Lafayette in 2015, she engaged in prayer and visiting and phoning other sisters. She was active on her computer, keeping other sisters informed of community events. An avid reader, Sister Anne enjoyed sharing books and recommendations with others. She shared her passion for South Carolina Women’s Basketball and made many fans among Grey Nun sisters and colleagues.

In addition to her religious congregation, sister is survived by several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; brothers Arthur, Joseph, Henry, Adrian and Felix Boyer; and sisters Beatrice, and Jacqueline Riley.
